Child Protective Services (CPS) is the civilian agency that
investigates reports of child abuse and neglect occurring in the civilian
community and recommends support services for parents if child maltreatment has
occurred and treatment is appropriate. CPS will also be involved in
reports of child maltreatment involving military families. CPS, the
Family Advocacy program, and the military and civilian law enforcement agencies
work together to protect children and ensure parents obtain the help they
need.
Reports of child neglect or abuse can be reported to the Child
Protective Services Hotline in San Diego. Child Protective Services
can then take measures to ensure children's safety after investigating the
allegations.
