Camp Atterbury, Central Indiana's Premiere Training Center, has provided training support for the U.S. Military for over sixty years. Once a major training and deployment center for World War II, and again for the Korean War, the camp has seen a resurgence in activity. Once again, National Guard and Army Reserve units train and deploy in defense of American liberties. Since February of 2003, Camp Atterbury has deployed nearly 23,000 National Guard and Army Reserve. As rotations continue, the more than 400-member support staff will continue to support the training, validation, deployment and return of National Guard and Army Reserve Soldiers at Camp Atterbury. The vast majority of the Soldiers serve as Citizen Soldiers, leaving behind their families and civilian jobs to serve. Many of these Soldiers have had prior active service, and they all train part-time throughout the year to maintain a level of readiness equal to that of their active-component compatriots. Their motto is "Train to Standard." Soldiers have deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Noble Eagle, and have deployed to Afghanistan, Africa, Iraq, Kuwait, Cuba, Bosnia, Sinai, and the U.S. Camp Atterbury also provides support and facilities for all other military service branches. Navy Seals, Marines and Air Force have chosen Camp Atterbury as a regular training center for their personnel. Local law enforcement entities, first responders and state and federal authorities use Camp Atterbury to maintain readiness as well. By drawing on its rich history and forging a future of excellence in maneuver training, Camp Atterbury will continue to provide the support necessary for Soldiers to honor their non-negotiable contract with the people of America to fight, and win, the wars of the United States of America.

The Greater Camp Atterbury
Camp Atterbury has been the beneficiary of several significant upgrades including an $8 million Joint Simulation Training and Exercise Center (JSTEC), where units can employ all three training environments and training events in a state of the art facility.
The camp also has a new $11 million Multi-Purpose Training Range to support infantry, mechanized, armor and convoy live fire exercises. Soldiers can experience a unique Theatre-immersion Training exercise in the newly constructed Battalion sized Forward Operating Base with a live fire range capability.
In 2005, Camp Atterbury began supporting the Muscatatuck Urban Training Center, forty-five miles to the southeast. The center will constitute the largest of its kind in the military's vast inventory of training centers, and provide an endless range of training opportunities and capabilities.
