The federal agencies in the
region have been downsizing in recent years. This reduces the possibility of
quick federal employment. Agencies are hiring but openings are highly
competitive. The Military Spouse Preference Program is available to those who
transfer here with an active duty sponsor. There are also other
preference/stopper lists affecting federal employment (those created by base
closures/RIF's).
