The Puget Sound region is rich in military bases. The Naval Base
Kitsap - Bangor is less than 15 miles north of the Bremerton Naval
Complex by freeway access. The McChord AFB-Fort Lewis-Madigan Army Medical
Center complex in Tacoma is 35+ miles to the south via state and interstate
freeways. The Naval Station Everett complex is only 35 miles to the northeast
but is still a minimum 1-1/2 to 2 hour adventure away via a state ferry ride and
highway drive combination. The Naval Air Station Whidbey Island complex is 60
miles directly north of Bremerton but is also a two hour plus journey by a
combination of the state ferry system and state highway travel. All of the Puget
Sound bases have spacious exchanges and commissaries open to authorized
personnel. A customer friendly regional schedule for all commissaries has been
standardized to ensure availability for patrons access.
