Many of the county social services departments in the Washington Metro area will provide, by mail, a listing of the approved child care providers and early childhood education programs in their jurisdiction. All you have to do is call them, tell them the type of program you're looking for, and give them your name and address. You may contact the Community Programs Office or the Family Support Center for assistance if you have trouble finding the local departments.
