If you are stationed here in South Carolina, you must have South
Carolina insurance.
If you are a South Carolina resident you are not
exempt from paying personal property tax on your vehicle. If you are not a South
Carolina resident and need to register your vehicle you must bring to the Legal
Assistance Office you ID Card, current LES, and proof of ownership. The Legal
Assistance Office will then provide to an Affadavit of Domicle which you will
take to the Auditor's Office, they will then give you an exemption form, you
them take that exemption form, and go to the Department of Motor Vehicles for
you tags.
