The 9th Medical Group facility is a clinic providing primary
care. Specialty services are not offered in the facility and subsequently
authorized military family members must rely on TRICARE/TRIWEST benefits to meet
their special health care needs. Emergency room care, obstetrical
care for both active duty and family members is available through the local
community hospitals. The local community offers excellent medical and
dental care working closely with military health care providers to ensure
quality care.
It is extremely important for both the military member and
spouses attend a TRICARE/TRIWEST benefits briefing as soon as possible after
arrival at Beale AFB in order to ensure awareness and understanding of medical
health benefits and available services. The Medical Right Start Brief
is held every Thursday at the Community Activities Center beginning at 7:30 a.m.
and is a mandatory formation for military members. Spouses are highly
encouraged to attend even if they cannot arrive at the 7:30 a.m. start
time. Information and handouts are available throughout the
morning.
Free child care through the Child Care for PCS program at the
Family Support Center is available for newly arrived personnel attending Medical
Right Start. Bring a copy of your orders to the Family Support Center
at 13th and B Streets. You will receive a certificate and list of
home care providers. Air Force Aid Society will pay for the child
care up to 20 hours per child within the first 60 days of your PCS date.
