Travis AFB is located in Fairfield, CA, which is 90 miles west of
Beale is home to David Grant Medical Center, a major medical facility. Travis
offers a very large Base Exchange and Commissary. Additionally, most military
Space Available Travel originates at Travis AFB. Popular Space A destinations
include Hawaii, Guam and the Orient.
Though not detachments of Beale,
McClellan Park is the home to other small military units. The Commissary and
Base Exchange have remained open due to the large military retiree population of
the area.
The McClellan Air Museum is located in Sacramento at the former
McClellan Air Force Base - now known as McClellan Business Park. The McClellan
Air Museum is located on Watt Avenue north of Interstate 80. The
Museum has a large collection of aircraft from the WWII era through the
present. There are also many other artifacts spanning much of the
history of the Army Air Corps and the U.S. Air Force.
