Spouse preference for appropriated fund positions is afforded
only through the DoD Priority Placement Program. In order to be
eligible, the spouse must be already serving in an accepted appointment overseas
or in a career or career-conditional appointment at the time the PCS orders are
issued. The spouse must be placed on leave without pay or be
separated from their appointment due to PCS in order to receive spouse
preference priority placement consideration. Registration for
departing spouses may be accomplished 30 days prior to sponsor's reporting date
at the new duty station. For additional information see the
Contacts/Links section for Civilian Personnel information.
Family members
can use spouse preference when applying for jobs with AAFES. All a
family member needs to take to AAFES personnel is their social security card and
their military ID in order to receive spouse preference.
Appropriated and
non-appropriated fund jobs at Barksdale AFB are few, primarily due to downsizing
of the military; however, a few job openings do become available, and they are
advertised at civilian personnel customer service section, located in the
Military Personnel Flight building, at 345 Davis Avenue.
The Family
Support Center provides computer access and opportunities to improve job search
skills. See Contact/Links for more contact information.
