The base hosts three colleges and universities that offer a
variety of undergraduate and graduate programs.
Louisiana-Tech
University, the largest school on base, offers undergraduate degrees in general
studies with concentrations in eleven different areas, and three graduate degree
programs, general counseling, organizational psychology and
business. The school operates on a quarter system and offers a full
range of courses and classes to meet the needs of most
students. Registration is also open to family members and civilians
from the local communities on a space available basis.
Southern Illinois
University offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Technology, which
can be accomplished by attending weekend classes and utilizing the other schools
to complete basic courses. Illinois active duty residents can attend
this school in a tuition exempt status.
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical
University offers both undergraduate and graduate programs in the aviation field
and a graduate degree in management. Students at this school also
utilize the other schools to complete their basic courses.
The Air Force
also offers extension courses and college testing services through the education
and training center located at 723 Douhet Drive. Air Force members
may use either tuition assistance or their VA benefits to fund their
education.
