You can get information about
occupations and how to find the right job for you from your school's career
center, counselors, or vocational teachers.Getting your driver's
license: You must be 18, but if you are 16, you may obtain a license
if you can prove that you passed an approved driver's education course and have
permission from your parent or guardian. Go to the nearest Dept of
Licensing office, obtain a Washington State Driver's Guide to
study. You must pass knowledge and skills tests on Washington traffic
safety laws and road signs before you can get a license. The driving
test, however, may be waived if you have a valid driver's license from another
state. The drivers guide is free and available in all licensing
service offices. You should have two valid documents that will prove
your age and identity. Acceptable documents are listed in the
driver's guide. If under 18, you also should have a parental
authorization form. The written test will take about 20
minutes. If you are required to take a driving skills test, you will
need to make an appointment, usually for another day. After passing,
you must pay the fee, have your picture taken, tell the department if you want
to be an organ donor and decide if you want to register to vote.
