No matter how well you plan your move, emergencies do happen.  Your insurance that you plan for unthinkable things will alleviate moments of high stress. Before you leave, make sure you have all important papers with you and not packed in your household goods.  Make sure you have the number of your new duty station duty officer.  Your sponsor can be very helpful if emergencies occur.  You should take the time to determine if any military bases are enroute to your new duty station.  Acquire their duty officer numbers and insure that list accompanies you.  You can acquire this type of information from your Family Service Center.  Ask to review a copy of the book entitled "The Military Relocation and Facilities Guide" by TCS Publishing, Inc.  It contains more information then you care to know about phone numbers of various activities for every military installation.
