USAA Maintains Top Financial Services Spot on Military Friendly Employers List

Strong military hiring program, employee benefits earn USAA No. 3 spot overall

SAN ANTONIO, TX – For the seventh consecutive year, USAA has been named one of the “Top 100 Most Military Friendly Employers” by G.I. Jobs magazine, climbing to No. 3 overall – its highest ranking ever. USAA was also recognized as:
·   The No. 1 financial services firm out of nine ranked companies.
·   The No. 10 company for Reserve- and Guard-friendly policies.

USAA’s world-class benefits package includes:

§         401(k) match.
§        Company bonus and holiday bonus.
§        Continued life and health care insurance for up to two years after deployment.
§         Full salary during the first four weeks of deployment.
§        A 100 percent pay differential for up to two years after deployment.

The annual survey and resulting list is the leading benchmark for enterprise recruiting programs targeting veterans.

“Our Board of Directors and I are adamant about having employees with military experience at all levels of USAA,” said Maj. Gen. (U.S. Army Retired) Joe Robles, USAA’s President and CEO. “For more than 87 years, we’ve been dedicated to serving military families. To continue to do that well, we have to attract, develop and retain not only people who have served in the military, but the best of those who have served.”

“Military service is a great training ground for a corporate career. USAA, which has made the list every year since we launched it in 2003, recognizes that veterans bring a winning combination of real-world experience and training, preparing them to succeed in corporate leadership roles,” said Rich McCormack, publisher ofG.I Jobs.
Kevin Scott is one of 30 candidates in USAA’s new Junior Military Officer Career Development Program. Before joining USAA, he was a company commander and Chinook pilot in the Army with a one-year deployment to Afghanistan under his belt.
"I've been a USAA member since I was commissioned," said Kevin, "so I've been on the receiving end of USAA's mission and core values for a long time. Knowing what USAA stands for made it easy for me to commit to a long-term career here."
The G.I. Jobs acknowledgment comes on the heels of USAA’s No. 1 ranking on Military Spouse magazine's 2009 Top 10 Spouse Friendly Employers list.
"These honors demonstrate to our industry and the military community that we not only appreciate the sacrifices of these individuals, but we also recognize the value they can bring to our organization," said Bob Lockett, Assistant Vice President Military Programs.
