A new national database, the National Motor Vehicle Title Information System (NMVTIS),allows you to get more information than ever before you buy a used car.
NMVTIS provides consumers with access to title information, odometer information and information from insurance companies.
Searching this information will help you determine if a car has been in an accident or if it’s been damaged by a flood.
Currently, 27 states participate or contribute data to NMVTIS.
Insurance companies will be required to begin reporting data on March 31, 2009.
