In both Nebraska and Iowa, consumable food is sales tax free. Tax on all other goods are taxed at 7 percent in all the cities surrounding the base.
WARNING: The state of Nebraska does not allow sales tax on purchasing a new or used car to be included in the financing package. Therefore, the buyer of a car must pay the total sales tax to the county at the time he/she registers the car (within 30 days after purchase). This would amount to $1,400 on a $20,000 vehicle.
