"Salute the Kids" an Art Activity Coloring Book for military children
Beth Allen, creator of Troops In Touch(tm) interactive post cards, is pleased to announce the publication of an Art Activity Coloring Book for military children titled "Salute the Kids"
The book, available at www.troopsintouch.com, contains 22 pages of coloring, games, story sentence starters and ways for children to express their feelings and emotions through drawings and words that are relevant and familiar to them.
Ms. Allen developed the book at the urging of parents who have used her postcards as well as the coloring pages that she provides free of charge to websites that support military families.
Melissa Seligman, co-founder of HerWarHerVoice, author of "The Day After He Left For Iraq", mother of 2 young children and wife of a soldier completing his 3rd deployment in Iraq, is a big supporter of this way for children to communicate.
She says, "Troops In Touch postcards and coloring pages have given my children tools to express their emotions . . on their level. I will never go through another separation without the valuable postcards, activity sheets & coloring pages. Now that their stories are being told through these canvases, I'm sure my children won't let that happen either."
Now, Beth's images, emotion pages,activity sheets and letters are all collected together in one book, encompassing the full spectrum of a deployment. This book gives children the ability to make art-based activities their own. That is the hallmark of everything I design for our military kids.
Ms. Allen started the Troops in Touch project when a family friend --a Navy reservist--was deployed for a year, leaving his two young children behind. She sought a way for him to easily communicate with his children -a way that would engage them and be fun. She designed the postcards after finding nothing to fill those needs.
