There are two grocery stores in Valdez, and some families make monthly trips to Anchorage for nonperishable items. Other stores include a newly opened music store, a new ice cream parlor, a quilting store, and gift shops.
Elmendorf AFB & Fort Richardson are both outside of Anchorage.
