Dugway Proving Ground is a remote Post located in Tooele
County. The nearest community to Dugway is Tooele, which is 45 miles
northeast. This equates to a drive that is approximately 50-60
minutes, because you drive up a winding mountain road through a pass (Route 199)
to get to Tooele. Tooele is a small town, population approximately
16,000. It has basic services such as 2 major supermarkets, a
Wal-Mart, and a few fast food and sit down restaurants and gas
stations. More extensive services and entertainment are available in
Salt Lake City, a large city 85 miles northeast of Dugway. Driving
time to Salt Lake via Skull Valley Road is approximately 1 1/2
hours. Also in Tooele County is Wendover, approximately 115 miles
from Dugway. On the Nevada border, it offers several casinos, hotels
and restaurants.
