Naval Base Ventura County Point Mugu/Port Hueneme is located in
Southern California with the Pacific Ocean on one side and farmland, mountains,
and metropolitan areas on the other. The base is less than one hour
away from several cities. To the east are Camarillo, Thousand Oaks,
Westlake Village, Agoura, and Newbury Park - all within 25 minutes driving
time. To the Northwest are Port Hueneme, Oxnard, and Ventura which
are 7 to 12 miles from Point Mugu. Los Angeles is located approx. 65 miles to
the southeast. Also south of Ventura County, along the coastline, are
the beautiful cities of Malibu and Santa Monica, both within a 60 minute scenic
drive along the Pacific Ocean. On the north is the equally picturesque city of
Santa Barbara. In Ventura County you have beaches, the ocean,
mountains, desert, cities, farmland, fresh water lakes and streams, dense
population and open spaces.
