Parenthood presents challenges for all families. These challenges
can be compounded by the demands of military service. A Healthy Parenting Tool
Kit called "Step into your Child's World" was developed to meet special military
family needs. The Tool Kit provides resources on the concerns children have
around parental deployments, family relocations, and dangerous work issues. The
Kit also provides suggested answers to questions frequently asked by military
children. Those with teenagers might want to look at the parent-teen resources
in the Tool Kit called "Stay Connected". The Tool Kit can be obtained through
the (ACS)Army Community Service Center, the Family Advocacy Program, the Child
Development Center or installation Chaplains.
Frequently, Army families
are separated from their extended family - aunts, uncles, grandparents - those
people parents turn to for support, information, and guidance. New
Parent Support helps to fill this gap by becoming a friendly support system for
expectant families or those with young children. We are in the
business of providing information and education to parents, helping them become
strong families with happy, healthy babies and children. Furthermore, the New
Parent Support Program promotes positive parenting and healthy family skills.
The New Parent Support program is available to families with children from
newborn to 6 years old.
