Parenting Tip of the Week - Early Stages of College Preparation
Source: Military Community and Family Policy (MC&FP) Weekly eNewsletter
Do you have a child in middle or junior high school? If so, it’s not too early for you and your child to start thinking about college. Here are some ways for your child to start:
- Speak with adults whom you think have interesting jobs.
- Develop strong study habits that help you earn good grades.
- Begin taking advanced courses, but only classes you can handle.
- Get involved in school- or community-based extracurricular activities.
Your school liaison officer can also help; school liaison officers coordinate and assist school aged children of military parents with educational opportunities and information necessary to succeed in an academic environment. Visit Military K-12 Partners for a School Liaison directory.
