Unexpected legal issues may arise during your absence. Make sure your family has all the resources at hand.
Make a will
Although the military requires you to name beneficiaries in the event of death or incapacitation, you must still prepare a legal will. In it, you'll appoint an estate executor, specify how you want your property handled, and name guardians for your children and dependents. You can have this document drawn up for free at your local military legal office.
Consult your local JAG or consider hiring a lawyer
