If you arrive at McChord AFB between 7:30 am and 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday, you should report to your unit Commander Support Staff (CSS) Office (orderly room).  Members who arrive during non-duty hours, on a weekend, or who need assistance, may contact the Billeting Office located in Building 166 or phone (253) 982-3591.  A staff member at the lodging facility should be able to assist you with any questions you may have concerning your arrival at McChord.  Your sponsor should also be contacted at your earliest convenience.  The base locator should also be able to assist you in contacting your sponsor or unit.  On base, they can be reached at ext. 113, DSN 382-1110, or commercial (253) 982-1110 during duty hours.

Inprocess at your unit CSS office first.  The CSS will contact the Military Personnel Flight (MPF) to schedule you for all of your mandatory inprocessing appointments.  You will need to hand-carry your personnel records to Customer Service at the MPF.  When you go to your inprocessing appointment, you will be able to file your travel voucher and be officially gained to McChord AFB.  Base In-processing and Newcomer's Orientation is generally held every Thursday starting at 0800 at the Northwest Connection NCO Club).  Spouses are strongly encouraged to attend this mandatory appointment.  Free child care may be obatined through the Air Force Aid Society Child Care for PCS Program.  Contact the Family Support Center at (253) 982-2695 for more information.

Most married personnel arriving on base prior to their report-no-later-than-date have the opportunity for a permissive TDY, to be used for house hunting.  Unit Orderly Rooms complete AF Form 988 to process this action for permissive TDY.

Except for the permissive TDY for married persons, these procedures are also applicable for the unaccompanied personnel.

Be sure you wear your duty uniform when you are inprocessing or doing any other official visits to base agencies.  All uniform combinations are authorized for wear throughout the year.  You should remove all patches from other commands from your BDUs, FSUs and field jackets prior to wearing them on McChord.
