Personnel assigned to Valdez should check in directly with their commands. If the command is deployed, check in with MSO Valdez during normal business hours.

IT IS VERY IMPORTANT, TO ENSURE THAT ALLOWANCES ARE STARTED, CHECK-IN MUST BE COMPLETED ON THE DAY OF ARRIVAL. IF ARRIVAL IS AFTER NORMAL WORK HOURS OR UNIT IS DEPLOYED, DELAY IS AUTHORIZED UNTIL NEXT WORK DAY.

IN THIS CASE AIRLINE OR FERRY ITINERARY MAY BE REQUIRED SO THAT ORDERS MAY BE ENDORSED WITH ACTUAL ARRIVAL TIME. FAILURE TO CHECK-IN COULD RESULT IN NONPAYMENT OF IMPORTANT ALLOWANCES. UNIFORM OF THE DAY IS REQUIRED WHEN CHECKING IN.

The uniform of the day is Service Dress Blue Bravo. Optional uniforms are Winter Dress Blue (Winter) and Tropical Blue Long (All Year). When reporting to Valdez, all members should report to their unit. If the Long Island is not in port, members should report to the MSO Valdez. You should sign up for TRICARE; parking permits are not required.

The Uniform of the Day here in Alaska is Tropical Blue Long from 1 April to Mid October and is optional for the remainder of the year.  Service Dress Blue Bravo is an optional winter uniform unless otherwise prescribed.  There are no uniform items available here in the state, although mail order through Cape May provides very good service.  Discuss uniforms with your sponsor to determine which items you will need depending on your department.
