Please note if you get married before you PCS or during your PCS, you must inform your commander and follow the procedures exactly as you are given them. The military will not pay for travel and housing of your spouse if you do not follow proper procedures and they are not listed on your travel orders.
Arrival and check-in requirements: When you arrive at the base, you are required to sign in at your orderly room between the duty hours of 7:30 am and 4:30 pm. If you arrive during non-duty hours, on a weekend or holiday and need assistance, you may contact the Lodging Office located in building 1024, phone (501) 987-6652 or (501) 987-6753/DSN: 731-6753. If you have not been contacted by a sponsor 30 days before departure, contact the INTRO office at (501) 987-5422 or DSN 731-5422 during normal duty hours for assistance. You can also contact the Relocation Program at the Family Support Center 501-987-6801 or DSN: 731-6801.
When you inprocess your orderly room you will be given an appointments for base in-processing. You will be given an appointment to inprocess the next available processing day on Tuesday at 0800 at the Family Support Center. All E-4's and below and first duty station enlisted and officers will report to the Family Support Center on a Thursday at 0730 for Financial and Sponsorship training.
A newcomer's orientation called Right Start is conducted monthly from 7:30 am - 11:00 am at the Little Rock Conference Center, Bldg 1030. Representatives from various base and community agencies will be available to provide information on areas of concern to newcomers. While the orientation is mandatory for military members, spouses and new civilian employees are also encouraged to attend. All spouses are encouraged to visit the Family Support Center to find out about the base, local community, jobs and much more. This is a great way for spouses to quickly get in touch with their new community. All spouses (5 years or less association with the military) are strongly encouraged to attend a special orientation program called "Heartlink", offered at the Family Support Center, Bldg. 668 (child care will be paid for and lunch provided). Please register for this program by calling (501) 987-6801.
Temporary Quarters: There is a variety of temporary lodging facilities at Little Rock AFB. None of them allow pets. Contact the lodging Office to make reservations. If there is no space available on base, you will then be provided a Non-Availability letter from lodging in order to secure a room off base and receive reimbursement for this room. If you are TDY to Little Rock and plan to bring family members, you may have to stay off base at your own expense. TDY personnel can only request billeting rooms on a space available basis for family members. Authorization for contract quarters will be provided at one of the local motels. PCS out is 7 days; PCS in is 30 days. Reimbursement for TLE is for 10 days ONLY. The average price range for contract quarters is $35-$72 daily. Most contract quarters have NO cooking facilities; restaurants are located nearby. Report to the Lodging Office, Bldg. 1024, to get contract quarters authorization. Make reservations if date of arrival is known by calling DSN: 731-6753 or (501) 987-6652, 24 hours a day.
Area Temporary Housing
There is now a toll free number for all duty and space-available travelers to use in making Air Force CONUS Lodging reservations. The toll free number is 1-888-AF LODGE (1-888-235-6343). After you dial the toll free number, you will hear a recorded prompt asking you to dial the first three digits of the base; for example, if you're calling to make Lodging reservations at Little Rock Air Force Base, Arkansas, you punch in LIT, and you'll be sent to the Lodging Office at Little Rock. This toll free number is for Air Force lodging operations located in the continental U.S. (includes Hickam AFB, Hawaii).
Child Care Information: The Child Development Center in Bldg 1990 is equipped to care for children 6 weeks to 5 years of age. A preschool is available for 3 and 4 year olds. All PCSing families are eligible to receive 20 hours of free childcare, regardless of rank. You do have to use the childcare within 60 days of checking into the base and it is also necessary to use an on-base family day care home provider. Bring a copy of your orders to the Family Support Center and we will provide you with a voucher for the care and guide you through the process.
The Family Child care Program is administered through the Family Child Care coordinator located in Bldg 1988. It provides licensed child care in base housing units; under Air Force guidance and training programs. Call (501) 987-3156 or DSN 731-3156 for information.
