Contact your sponsor as soon as possible after your arrival.  Ask for assistance in finding your way around if you are not familiar with the base or the community.

OFFICIAL CHECK IN POINTS:

During normal duty hours, report to your gaining squadron.  If you are not sure where it is located, please refer to Major Units Listings for street addresses, building numbers, and telephone numbers.

Outside of normal duty hours, you may check in at any of the billeting locations.

If you require permissive TDY for house hunting, complete the request in your orderly room.

The second step is to go to the MPF Personnel Employment Office in Bldg 5616, Room 107, to drop off sealed records and schedule your initial in processing briefing.  The office is open for walk-ins until 12 noon daily and by appointment afternoons. Wear the uniform of the day.

The initial inprocessing briefing is normally held on Tuesday and Thursday at 0730 in the Education Classrooms Building, Bldg 5200.  It is located on the training side of the base at the intersection of George and McGuire.

Be in the uniform of the day.  Have at least 10 copies of your orders and any copies of travel receipts that need to be attached to your travel vouchers.

Briefers include representatives from Wilford Hall Medical Center (WHMC), the TRICARE Service Center, Family Support Center, Military Personnel Flight, and DFAS.

Right Start is a half-day program offered once or twice a month.  The 59 Medical Wing conducts its own Right Start in the WHMC Auditorium on Mondays.  All others attend Right Start in Arnold Hall on Friday mornings.  All newcomers attend an additional four hour Medical Right Start in WHMC auditorium.  Scheduling varies according to the time of year.

All first-term airmen are required to attend the First Term Airmen's Center (FTAC) for two weeks for additional orientation and mandatory briefings.

Other briefings which may be required are Personal Financial Management Planning and Military Equal Opportunity.

In addition, each wing and unit have inprocessing checklists of their own.  Please review each checklist carefully to plan your inprocessing in a convenient way.  Lackland is a large base and it is possible to spend much time driving around if you do not plan.

If you have family members, be sure to go to the TRICARE Service Center to get them enrolled in this region and to choose a new primary care provider.  You will also want to sign them up for the TRICARE Dental Plan because base dental facilities do not have the capacity to provide routine dental care for family members.

If you forwarded your mail to one of the temporary mail facilities on base, please stop by to request it.  At that time, you will be assigned a post office box number to facilitate future pickups.

PSC 1 is located in Bldg 1508 at the intersection of Truemper and Kelly Drive.  PSC 6 is located at 105 Hall Blvd in Bldg 2017.  The customer service window is open from 10 am to 5 pm.
