AFI / DOD Instructions require all military personnel reporting to a new duty station and requiring community housing to report to the Housing Flight Office prior to committing to leasing or purchasing off-base housing.
Visit the housing office for informative counseling concerning housing. Good housing within commuting distance is available, but relatively expensive. For those interested in purchasing, sales properties are plentiful. Mortgage rates reflect the national average. Since the base is near major traffic arteries, Andrews personnel live in almost all of the Washington area's communities. The Housing Flight can provide a computer listing organized according to type of housing desired (e.g., apartments, townhomes, single family homes for sale/rent, number of bedrooms required, price, and geographical location preferences). You will also receive copies of base and area maps and briefings on housing in the immediate and surrounding areas.
The Housing Market in the DC Metro area is among the most expensive in the United States. In fact, this area has made the "Top 10 Overinflated Housing Markets in the U.S." three
years in a row!
