Before you move take care of the following issues:
- Receive Relocation counseling and /or attend a Smooth Move seminar
- Sponsorship - if you will be a permanent party at Columbus AFB, contact your unit to obtain a sponsor. Your sponsor will send you a sponsor package, answer your questions about Columbus AFB and the local area, and help you and your family settle in. If you will be a student at Columbus AFB, contact the Family Support Center for relocation assistance.
Reporting Procedures
During Work Hours. Report to your Unit Orderly Room or Commanders Support Staff. They will arrange for your inprocessing with Military Personnel Flight. Contact your sponsor to let him/her know you have arrived.
After Hours Reporting. Report to Temporary Lodging Facility, Magnolia Inn, located at 179 F Street, Bldg 956, the 24-hour arrival point. Contact your sponsor to let him/her know you have arrived. Report the next working day to your Unit Orderly Room or Commanders Support Staff. They will arrange for your inprocessing with military personnel Flight.
If you have an emergency and may be arriving late, contact your sponsor or the base command post, 1 800 982-4257.
Note: "If you get married before you PCS, you MUST inform your commander and follow the procedures exactly as you are given them. The military WILL NOT PAY for travel and housing of your spouse if you do not follow the proper procedures."
