Access to Andrews Air Force Base is convenient by auto. METRO, the Metropolitan Area Transit Authority rail and bus system, provides travel to the District of Columbia, Maryland and Northern Virginia. METRO buses pick up at the North Gate (please note this gate is closed on weekends) and several blocks from the main gate of Andrews. Metro schedules are available at Family Support and metro train stations. There are also Metro information stores in various locations. There is one in Crystal City, take the Yellow line and exit at Crystal City. Most counties and municipalities in the METRO area have local bus services (DASH, Connector, Metro RideOn, etc.) which connect with METRO.
