Support Center.The Altus AFB Youth Center is a "hot" spot for youth and teens
with lots of fun activities throughout the year, to include bowling, lock-ins,
teen dances, ping-pong, pool, and contests, summer pool parties, numerous trips
and tours to points of interest, such as Six Flags or sporting events, monthly
skills classes, such as karate, gymnastics, hands-on science, arts and crafts,
and golf clinics in the summer. The Youth Center also sponsors keystone, torch
clubs, T.R.A.I.L., youth sports, power hour, Congressional Awards Program, fine
arts program and Youth of the Year.The Altus School District works in
conjunction with Western Oklahoma State Vo-tech to provide college credits for
those juniors and seniors in high school who will be pursuing college after
graduation.
Teen hot spots include the "5-screen" movie theatre and
putt-putt golf course and arcade. Nearby is Quartz Mountain State
Park with swimming, fishing, and go-carts. On base, we proudly boast
of two swimming pools with one of them having water slide equipment, Cosmic
Bowling, and state of the art snack bars. A Teen Center is located at
the Youth Center for dances and social gatherings.
