There are currently no private schools within this area.  However, there are some pre-school and kindergarten programs and private educational programs, such as Advance Learning Center available if interested.  They also provide homework help (tutoring) and college examination preparation.

Persons moving to the Altus area who would like information about the school district are invited to contact the Public Information Officer, at area code 580-481-2107 or visit their web site.  The Altus Independent School district consists of one high school, one junior high, one middle school, and six elementary schools, with one elementary school being on base.  The high school curriculum is on a block schedule -- daily class time is increased throughout the year to achieve better learning retention, much like college.

General Information: Head Start and Early Head Start are comprehensive child development programs that serve children from birth to age 5, pregnant women, and their families. They are child-focused programs and have the overall goal of increasing the school readiness of young children in low-income families.
