In order for spouses to apply for federal employment they will
need the following documents - Updated SF171, most recent performance appraisal,
PCS orders (with spouses name included), or copy of marriage certificate (prior
to SM's last PCS). Spouse cannot register earlier than 30 days prior
to PCS. Contact local CPO or HRO for more information. See
below for detailed information on this subject.Federal government employment is
available in three forms aboard base: Federal direct hires (GS and WG), NAF
(non-appropriated funds), or contract. While there are POCs listed
for direct hire Federal and NAF positions, private contractors are responsible
for advertising their own jobs.
Local and state government employment is
available in the local area. State budget cutbacks have resulted in
fewer positions being offered and therefore more competition is to be expected
for these jobs. Jobs with school systems are more likely to be
available during the spring, when school systems have begun to offer contracts
to existing staff and faculty.
