It is USMC policy to provide Children, Youth & Teen Programs which assist military and DoD civilian personnel in balancing the competing demands of family life and the accomplishment of the mission, and to improve the economic viability of the family unit.  In this regard, the following services are provided at MCLB Albany--

The Nationally Accredited Child Development Centers at MCLB provide developmental care for children 6 weeks through 12 years of age.  Services include full time care, part time care, before and after school aged care (full time care is provided on school holidays and summer vacations), and pre-kindergarten classes for 4 year olds.  Both military, DoD civilians and contractors assigned to MCLB are eligible to utilize this service.

Family Child Care provides developmental care for children 6 weeks through 12 years of age.  Certified providers living in government quarters and in the local community provide family childcare services to both military and DoD civilians assigned to MCLB.  Family childcare is also an excellent way for spouses to earn an income and be able to stay at home.

Resource and Referral services are available to assist military and DoD civilians in finding appropriate childcare for their family members.  A complete listing of available care options can be made available to you.  The listings provide information on child care both on base and in the local community.

CYTP maintains a listing of certified American Red Cross babysitters.  If you and/or your spouse are planning an activity away from the children, be sure to call the Children, Youth and Teen Programs Office for a list of qualified babysitters.

Supplemental services are also available for short-term care, special command functions, babysitting co-op, etc.

For more information about the services provided by Children, Youth and Teen Programs and for information on how to be placed on the waiting list call the Children, Youth and Teen Programs Office at the number listed below. After school care is available through several locations.  The Child Development Center offers after school care for children up to age 12.  Look under CHILD CARE PROGRAMS-ON INSTALLATION for CDCs numbers.  The YMCA also offers an after school program.  Information on the YMCA can be found under THINGS TO DO-RECREATION AND SPORTS.

The Extended Day Program for the Dougherty County School system includes elementary and middle school students.  See below for more information on how to enroll in this program.
